Chair of Te Āhuru Mōwai, Tā Matiu Rei, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr James Te Puni as the General Manager of Te Āhuru Mōwai.
James brings extensive experience in commercial development, strategy and negotiation, social services and community engagement.
His previous experience includes time as Stakeholder Manger M2PP (Makay’s to Pekapeka) Expressway, Marketing Director for New Zealand Post, CEO of the Hurricanes and Wellington Rugby, General Manager Māori at Te Papa Tongarewa, and National Retail Manager for Hallensteins.
In addition to his current role as Chairman for Barnardos New Zealand, James has served as a volunteer and in governance roles with many community focused initiatives. He is a current board member with the Whitireia Foundation that works with local businesses to provide scholarships to Porirua people studying at Whitireia Polytechnic.
James studied Te Reo at Whitireia and holds an MBA (with distinction) from Victoria University. His primary iwi affiliation is Ngāti Porou. James and his whanau are proud and passionate residents of Titahi Bay and Porirua.
