Te Āhuru Mōwai purchase Moana Court Flats

Te Āhuru Mōwai the largest Māori owned Community Housing Provider in Aotearoa have successfully purchased Moana Court complex in Titahi Bay, from Porirua City Council.

The 26 homes transferred to Te Āhuru Mōwai on 1 May 2023.

James Te Puni, Chief Executive of Te Āhuru Mōwai says adding the Moana Court homes to the organisation’s 924 homes in western Porirua will be seamless. “We’re a locally based provider, with experience on the ground in Titahi Bay already, and we are committed to providing warm, dry, safe homes for all our tenant whānau.

Our team have already met many of the Moana Court tenants, and we look forward to building those relationships in the years to come.

The Moana Court complex was built in 1974 and its management was overseen by Wellington City Council since 2013. Porirua City Council resolved in its 2021-51 Long-term Plan to sell the units to a Community Housing Provider or Kāinga Ora.
